HUNTERMATIC

This groovy and catchy tune Huntermatic that fuses elegantly House and Downtempo over a fat and bouncy bassline and that features the voice of Shadee of Motown fame was one of the best moments of Rodney Hunter´s second full-length Hunterville. G-Stone decided to give further highlight to this song and enrolled talented producers Skwerl and Trick & Kubic for manic 12” that will definitely find his place in the bag and DJ sets of people such as Kruder & Dorfmeister, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Trüby or The Stereo MCs to name but a few.

Mike Beim aka Skwerl has made himself a name in the nu-jazz community and Viennese DJ-scene thanks to numerous gigs in and outside of Austria under the alias Jazzymike. This big fan of Jaco Pastorius already played alongside some big fishes but always had an acute ear for production. His first 12“ entitled The Flying Squirrel released on Trickski’s Member Of The Trick 12" series under Sonar Kollektiv already took him a long way. Indeed the number All woman that features power house vocals by Hubert Tubbs has been canned by many DJs worldwide and got even re-released on the famous Defected house label. His remix treatment has an incredibly infectious jazzy groove and his housey synth melodies will heat up the floors and get some asses moving from the left to the right!

On the flipside Trick & Kubic are coming up strong with a great version of Huntermatic: minimal, bouncy and simply mental! The 2 Berlin Boys who delivered excellent releases on labels such as Get Physical and Great Stuff Recordings and notably the infamous Orbital Dance Machine, which got Fat Boy Slim rolling on the floor screaming for more, show off their impeccable skills, their affection for fat bass beats and their addiction to analog synth lines. Their remix is a surefire dancefloor filler that will get the crowd in a proper raving frenzy! Last but not least the original version of Huntermatic is also present on the flipside!

This is the icying on a very hot musical pie! With this winner record G-Stone Recordings will definitely spreads the Hunter legend all around the world!

HUNTERVILLE

"Timeless, modern Funk and Soul" is Hunter's favourite description for his sound, and we can easily let this statement stand for itself. "
More than ever this formula applies to "Hunterville". Tastefully adding some R´n´B along the way is certainly no handicap either.
It's up to the listener to call them "tracks" or "songs", that this music works simply can not be denied.
Last but not least, excessive and meticulous mixing sessions with Peter Kruder and with Michael Jackson peering from his "Thriller" album cover always keeping an eye on things, have created an album that fulfills all demands of today's definition of funk.
In other words: between "Billie Jean" and the latest Techno smash outta Germany only one will keep his sure place no matter if this showdown will happen on an iPod or in the club.
Without a doubt Hunter determined, he continues to follow his own path. He might not be wearing diamond socks but this can only be due to the fact that we're talking about understatement here, a gentleman's only luxury in this world.

WANNA GROOVE

First single from the stunning ‘Hunterville’ long player from Rodney Hunter. Guest remixes by the neighbouring Germans adds to the rightfully expected release on this 12". The original cut of ‘Wanna Groove?’ as featured on this 12" has been a sure fire winner for those lucky enough to have an advance copy for a while now. The stand out track from the album has been a huge track for the big boys even before its official release. You can never go wrong with a catchy bounce and some sexy strings.

The remixes:
Man of the moment Christian Prommer takes ‘Wanna Groove?’ on the more gentle percussion trip at first that simply builds and builds into a classic education process. With his Drumlesson project, Christian is opening a lot of ears up to the more sophisticated side of tech house, and he adds magnificently on his resume with this remix. Elegant programming as you would come to expect from Voom Voom / Fauna Flash / Trüby Trio team member. It ends at just over ten minutes but the ride spanned a minor evolution in techno terms. Stunning remix
Wahoo boys, aka Georg Levin & Steffen Berkhahn bring back some of the bounce and shuffle and a tambourine shake or two. Again, these guys know a thing or two about moving feet and hips and making people heat up their body temperatures. Master of German house music, these guys again give you another option for the floor. A vocal and instrumental version of Wanna Groove? by Wahoo is featured on the 12".

Four stunning versions, feet won’t fail you now.

TAKE A RIDE

Rodney Hunter returns to remixed by some of today's top remixers and renovators! "Take a ride", everybody's favourite cut for the supernumerary Hunter Files long player firstly gets the Fauna Flash electro boogie disco bounce. Roland Appel and Christian Prommer as Fauna Flash are always high in demand on the remix circuit, and they don't disappoint with an electro-dynamic remix.
Dublex Inc. from the storming Pulver label come with the heavy beats and bass as per usual, and keep the feet once again firmly on the dancefloor. Again, heavy in demand on the remix front, Dublex Inc. know exactly what to do to make hips and butts shake, rattle and roll.
Makossa & Megablast with their customary sound of filters and flangers give it the more Viennese feeling and sensation for "Find out". Originally in reggae form, they turn it into a firing burner that will also have the soles of your shoes seeking a pit stop.
Finally, André Lodemann gets super deep with a mouth-watering house groove straight out of the Detroit school of 4/4 moves. Watch this guy go in the not too distant future.

HUNTERFILES

Family matters! You know, associations of people who share common beliefs and activities. Kindred could be another apt and resourceful word to use in situations like this I guess? Always similar and related in quality and character, this of course the G-Stone manifesto and code of conduct as we know it. It has always been a family related thing here in Vienna, like one giant belonging. Time now for the G-Stone family to share its newest member! Two years in the making and with guest appearances from outstanding talents such as Hubert Tubbs, Ken Cesar, Farda P, Hunterfiles is a worthy excursion into the new sounds of Vienna and beyond.
